Glashütte Original is adding this beautiful new variant of its Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer replica (Ref. 1-58-01-05-34-30) vthis year. Cased in white gold with a fine-grained dark blue dial, the chronometer certified watch is powered by Glashütte Original’s manufacture Caliber 58-01 with a refined second-stop mechanism and elaborate finishing. It is an impeccable timpiece inside and out and again reminds me why I am so fond of Glashütte Original replica timepieces.The Glashütte logo at 9 o’clock balances the big date window positioned at 3 o’clock. Both subdials are slightly recessed, as you can see here:

The Dial
Look closely and you will see the chronometer’s deep blue dial (made in the company’s own dial manufactory in Pforzheim, Germany) has a finely grained and lacquered surface; the textured surface is subtle, but shows nicely in various types of light as you can see from the pics here.
There is a railroad-style chapter ring printed on the periphery, with Roman numerals marking the hours. The long, slim poire hands are highly polished and made of white gold. The chapter ring is matched in the running small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock which also has the same design. Up top is a power reserve indicator, with the “CHRONOMETER” marking directly below it, signifying this timepiece’s extreme timekeeping precision.
All together, a well arranged dial with indications coming together harmoniously . It is something watch aficionados have come to expect from this fine German manufacturer.
Caliber 58-01
The functions are driven by the manual winding Glashütte Original Calibre 58-01. Among its features is a refined second-stop mechanism: when the crown is pulled out, the time display stops and the seconds hand is reset to zero and held there; simultaneously the minute hand jumps ahead to the next full minute index. It is decorated in the traditional fake Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer art of watchmaking: the three-quarter plate, screw-mounted gold chatons and hand-engraved balance cock.
